On Saturday, December 19, A Chance for Children had their twentieth holiday event for the children and their families! The day began with Jane West reading her children’s book, The Lonesome Pine and sharing a copy with every family.
There was an assortment of arts & crafts, a barbecue lunch, a band, and Santa’s arrival to hand out gifts for around a hundred children.
What makes this event extra special is that we get “wish lists” from the children a few weeks ahead of time so each child gets their “wish” for Christmas. From bikes, to Barbies – it is a delight to see their faces light up!
Grocery store gift certificates, clothing and shoes, toiletries and other items were shared with each family!
The event is all volunteer! We are grateful to all of the donars and volunteers for their help and cheer!
